The uniLIGHT towline winches of the new Generation 3 represent another milestone for F-towing in model aviation. These winches make it possible to enjoy towing operations with extreme comfort and safety in everyday use. After the glider is released, the towline can be retrieved fully automatically, ensuring a safe flight and a worry-free landing. The intelligently controlled automatic reeling system offers numerous possibilities for both beginners and professionals. The functionality, electronics, and software are identical across all models; the only differences are in installation size, weight, winding capacity, rigidity, and thus their respective areas of application.

The MEDIUM standard version for ambitious towing, universal use with ropes up to 25 kg and 1 mm to 1.5 mm thick.

The winches consist of CNC-machined aluminum parts and milled fiber-reinforced panels. This allows us to achieve the lowest possible weight with maximum strength. A lightweight, brushless motor with a non-binding belt drive serves as the power source. A slip clutch therefore also allows operation as an electric spring. The motor output stage, the entire control electronics, and the servo for emergency release are already integrated. Each winch comes with a powerful uniLIGHT.at strobe light, which makes the operating status visible even from the ground. Each winch can be configured via the uniLIGHT PLUS interface and our uniLIGHT.DESK in Windows and Android.

Upon delivery, the winch is designed for simple manual operation, so towing, winding, and emergency release are possible. Additional intelligent functions can then be activated in the DESK. To do this, the rope must first be programmed, which means the rope length is saved. Numerous functions are only fully available after this; here are the core systems:

• The intelligent release function allows the rope to be released only once it is nearly fully extended. This prevents accidental deployment on the ground.
• Dynamic towing with an electric spring function can be set for a specific rope length. The paraglider is thus pulled only up to this rope length and then gently stopped.
• Manual, intelligent retrieval can be activated at any time during towing if the rope sags. As long as there is movement in the rope, the function remains active; when the rope is at rest or fully extended, it is automatically deactivated.
• The remaining line function determines how much line is actually retrieved; the value is freely adjustable and can be adapted to the towed model.
• The remaining rope rewind function can automatically retract the remaining rope when the model comes to a complete stop on the ground.
• Freely configurable winding speeds for all operating modes
• All parameters can be manually optimized or automatically set after the learning process.
• Galvanically isolated system with master-slave shutdown requires no separate switch for the power supply
• Operable via a single servo channel, 2S LiPo/LiIon as power supply.
• Undervoltage protection safeguards the battery but still allows for emergency release of the line as a classic tow.
