Product description:
It has now been exactly 10 years to the month since the first Competition SRS was launched on the market. At the time, it set a milestone in the redundant design of receivers through the then-novel bus technology. The free assignment of outputs, servo matching, and the connection to the first telemetry systems were unique features for a long time.
Technology has evolved and requirements have increased. We at PowerBox-Systems are proud to present our latest development, the PowerBox Competition SR2. With a new design and state-of-the-art technology, over 20 years of experience in the design and construction of onboard electronics have been integrated into a single device.
The changes are already visible from the outside: The new color TFT display stands out most clearly, as it is clearly readable even in direct sunlight. The size of the display allows for a self-explanatory menu structure, which did not result in a single question from our test pilots during operation. Another visible change is the large, solid-machined heat sink, which significantly boosts the power supply’s performance. The overall size of the Competition SR2 has been significantly reduced. To match its elegant design, the accompanying sensor switch and the TFT display have also been housed in a machined aluminum enclosure.
The biggest innovations, however, only become apparent after powering on. Right on the main screen, all important information—such as battery voltage, current, capacity used, and all receiver-related data—is visible at a glance. Additionally, status messages related to the connected iGyroSAT or GPS III are displayed.
In the menu itself, you’ll find a clear layout featuring familiar menu items alongside many new functions in two languages: German and English!
Thus, the new Competition SR2 has implemented the most powerful iGyro technology ever offered by PowerBox-Systems. In conjunction with the optionally available iGyroSAT, 12 gyro axes are available, fully covering all existing model variations.
A sophisticated setup wizard allows the pilot to configure even models with, for example, two thrust vectors, ailerons, and tailerons in just a few minutes. By the end of the wizard, the transmitter channels are assigned, the gyro rotation directions are set, and the servos are connected to the outputs.
Each individual gyro axis can also be fine-tuned from the transmitter using separate channels. A whole range of expert settings leaves nothing to be desired when it comes to adapting the iGyro to individual needs after the first setup flight.
Servo matching has not only been graphically enhanced: with the PowerBox Competition SR2, the servo curve can now be adjusted across 5 points. The automatic servo matching has been newly developed. In addition to a main servo, up to two additional servos can be easily selected, and at the push of a button, these 2–3 servos are precisely matched to each other within a few seconds!
The Competition SR2 features two independent door sequencers. In addition to the landing gear, this allows, for example, canopy controls with locking mechanisms to be implemented without additional devices. The first door sequencer can be programmed in just a few minutes using a setup wizard—3 modes are available. Additional, specialized settings are a breeze to configure thanks to the graphical display, which shows the entire sequence timeline at a glance.
For PowerBox and Jeti pilots, the Competition SR2 can be operated and configured almost entirely* from the transmitter! Telemetry for battery and receiver data is fully implemented for all supported systems. With a connected GPS III, GPS data is also available—to the extent permitted by the respective system.
