Product Description

The PBS-TAV complements the PowerBox sensor range with a high-quality airspeed sensor. TAV stands for True-Airspeed-Vario. As the name suggests, the PBS-TAV sensor can measure airspeed, altitude, and climb rate. Since the information on speed and altitude is available with unprecedented accuracy, the climb rate can be calculated using compensated total energy. This means that the vario displays only "true" thermals; controlled climbing or sinking is factored out.

The PBS-TAV is constructed from two pressure chambers sealed with O-rings, housing the two high-precision MEMS pressure sensors that operate independently of one another. The housing consists of two robust machined aluminum parts with steel hose nipples.

The total energy compensation has a built-in factor that allows the compensation to be fine-tuned from the transmitter. Once the factor has been calibrated in flight, it can then be permanently programmed into the sensor.

The sensor can be connected to various telemetry systems. The system is automatically recognized. The PBS-TAV is therefore plug-and-play.

Included is the “Professional” Pitot tube, the perfect complement to the PBS-TAV. It can be easily removed from the mounting sleeve for transporting the model. The premium "Professional" Pitot tube is constructed from milled aluminum parts and carbon fiber, making it very lightweight and of extremely high quality. The mounting sleeve is also available separately and can therefore be installed in various models—the Pitot tube itself can then be swapped between models.
